About Us

Citizens for Healthcare Excellence Action Fund is a political organization dedicated to supporting qualified candidates for the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board. The Hospital Board is responsible for oversight of the Sarasota Memorial Health (SMH) Care System.

Five of the nine seats on the board are open for election in August and November 2026. We support high-quality candidates who will continue to demonstrate leadership in providing high quality healthcare services to our county-wide community.

SMH is a high-quality world-renowned leader in delivering excellent healthcare to our region. They are also the health-care safety net, delivering most of the county’s inpatient Medicaid and charity care to our most vulnerable.
